We who live in Southwestern Ontario have no lack of theatre offerings. What we sometimes lack is an understanding of our history and our own emerging story. We seem to be always looking elsewhere for culture and beauty, when it is right here, in our own backyard. As the 100-mile-diet is to the food movement, so Backyard Theatre is to the theatre experience – high quality and accessible theatre that tells stories that matter to the audience. We combine the talents of professionals and community artists all committed to offering the audience a vibrant and unforgettable theatre experience that changes how we look at our everyday lives.

We combine the talents of professional and community artists, all committed to offering the audience a vibrant, high-quality and unforgettable theatre experience.

We acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional territory of ‎ the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Backyard Theatre is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes ten kilometres on each side of the Grand River.
